Equity News: International Women’s Day & Women’s History Month

Fintechs around the world celebrated International Women’s Day and Women’s History Month. Following are several highlights:

    • Paysafe kicked off International Women’s Day on March 8, 2021, with a virtual roundtable addressing gender equality in the workplace. Panelists cited a recent survey by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics that found women lost approximately 156,000 jobs in December 2020, while men lost only about 16,000.
    • Women’s Network in Electronic Transactions (Wnet) and JPMorgan Chase & Co., co-hosted “Women on the Move,” a morning webinar that featured diverse perspectives from leaders in Chase’s four operating regions.
    • NYC FinTech Women, Nasdaq and UN Women presented “Women in Leadership, Achieving an Equal Future in a COVID-19 World,” opening with sponsor introductions and closing with comments by Brad Peterson, chief technology officer and chief information officer, Nasdaq.
    • The Electronic Transactions Association published a white paper, “How FinTech is Addressing the Financial Needs of the Underserved,” demonstrating how technologies are expanding access to financial offerings to traditionally bypassed populations. A free copy of the report is available at .
    • findexable launched The Fintech Diversity Radar on March 9, 2021, a new global platform designed to measure global diversity and inclusion initiatives in real time. The company invited privately-owned fintechs to participate in a global and fully anonymized survey. Responses will be used when the platform goes live in August 2021, organizers stated.
